Scripture teaches that no one casts out devils in Jesus' name unless they
are His.
Acts 19:13-16
Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call
over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We
adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. [14] And there were seven sons of
one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. [15] And the evil
spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
[16] And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame
them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked
and wounded.
In spite of this there are deceivers who will try to tell us that the ones
in these scriptures who cast out demons in His name were never His.
Matthew 7:21-23
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy
name done many wonderful works? [23] And then will I profess unto them, I
never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
That agrees with what else He says, such as, "he that endureth to the end
shall be saved" (Matt 10:22).
What the deceivers miss is the Author's parallel of His coming with the
bridegroom coming for his bride. Jesus is the bridegroom coming coming for
the church, His betrothed.
When He says, "I never knew you," He is saying I have not consumated this
union, and I'm not taking you home with me.
When misread, the reader is following what the words say and are not paying
attention to what the Author, the Lord, is saying. We are warned not to read
scripture that way: "But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon
precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a
little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be
broken, and snared, and taken" (Is 28:13)
