Subject: Revelations

Can anyone lead me to an Eclectic or Idealist interpretation of The
Book of
Revelations: i.e. that which stresses the spiritual principles of the
book and
does not attempt to dogmatize on details of the more mysterious
visions. This
school believes that there are three types of passages in the
Apocalypse:
those that are very clear in their spiritual teaching; those that are
more
mysterious, and yet contain an element of truth that is instructive;
and those
that are so veiled that it is futile from our present knowledge to
give
positive interpretations. I'd appreciate any direction and guidance
to an
Eclectic or Idealist interpretation of Revelations

There are several Bible teachings on the Christian radio stations. One
station is BBN (Bible News Network; another is CBN (Christian News
network).. these radio stations have a number of excellent Bible
teachings.
One current program is Turning Point with Dr. David Jeremiah from San
Diego,
California. It is an excellent teaching about the book of Revelation.
It
is entitled 'Escape the Coming Night", which is also the title of the
study
booklets and a book. Most of the Bible teachers have web addresses.
Another good one is Ravi Zacharacis who's program is "Let My People
Think".
He is located in Norcross, Georgia. His program is on the radio on
Saturday
evening and Sunday morning. He too has a website with lots of
resources.
The link is rzim.org (If that doesn't get you to the site, go to
google.com and type in RZIM and it will help you locate the site.
Also, you
can type your inquiry into google and find all type of resources.. I
hope this helps

"Idealistic" interpretation? What do you want? If you mean what I
think
you may mean by the word "idealistic" then perhaps you should just
read the
book for yourself and interpret it however you wish to make it say
what fits
you. Since that would be just as good as anyone else's 'idealistic'
interpretation. Too often people seem to have an idea of what the
meaning
is, yet because of some sin which they love indulging in, and know is
wrong,
they seek an 'idealistic' interpretation of the Bible that says, 'no
sweat
Joe, it's ok'. The simple fact is that it is God's word and He means
what
he says. It seems to me that those versed in and who have spent their
entire adult lives studying the Bible, its history, the languages
(Greek,
Hebrew, English, etc.) are far better able to offer a reliable
'interpretation' of the meaning than are some anti-god, evolutionist
or God
hater who's pushing some huministic agenda (all disguised as something
sweet
and harmless, of course). Good luck with your search...I'd suggest
that you
pray first and then start reading the Bible for yourself, before you
go in search of some 'idealistic' interpretation.
